Sports Physical Evaluations

Arbor Creek Chiropractic offers two levels of sports physical evaluations. The first is the standard State of Kansas required evaluation that is completed on the Kansas State High School Activities Association Pre Participation Physical Evaluation (KSHSAA-PPE) form. The second one is an Advanced Biomechanical Weakness (ABW) Evaluation. Read the information about each one before deciding which one is right for your athlete.

Schedule a Physical

Standard PPE - $30

This physical examination covers a thorough evaluation of the athlete’s organ systems and an evaluation of the athlete’s musculoskeletal systems. This state required examination helps evaluate and attempt to locate any underlying conditions that may be detrimental to the well being of the athlete. This examination is required if your student athlete wants to participate in an athletic activity during the school year. Download and fill out the PPE Form and then schedule an appointment for your sports physical today.

PPE physical includes:

  • Thorough review of the athlete’s history
  • Thorough evaluation of the organ systems
  • Thorough evaluation of the musculoskeletal system
  • Height, weight, and vital signs
  • Hernia check
  • Signed PPE Form

ABW Evaluation - $75

The second type of sports physical is called the Advanced Biomechanical Weakness (ABW) Evaluation. This examination combines the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) evaluation, the PPE, and Dr. Tim’s upper and lower biomechanical kinematic chain evaluation to create an extremely thorough evaluation for your athlete. The goal of this evaluation is to find biomechanical and muscular inconsistencies that have been formed via bad habits, prior injuries, repetitive sports related action, or altered muscle length-tension relationships. These imbalances wreak havoc on the athlete by hindering performance and increasing the risk of injury.

Once these are located, Dr. Tim will generate a detailed report highlighting tight muscles, weak muscles, and any other biomechanical alteration that is found. Then corrective regimen will be prescribed to the athlete to be performed at home. Following the prescribed guidelines will help the student athlete reduce the risk of injury, reinjury, joint stress, and altered biomechanics. The correction will also help improve function and performance by resetting the muscle patterns to a more efficient state.

ABW physical includes:

  • Thorough review of the athlete’s history
  • Thorough evaluation of the organ systems
  • Thorough evaluation of joint biomechanics
  • Thorough evaluation of the musculoskeletal system
  • Thorough evaluation of the upper & lower kinematic chains
  • Evaluation of muscle length-tension relationships
  • Height, weight, and vital signs
  • Hernia check
  • Detailed muscle imbalances report
  • Corrective exercise guidelines
  • Signed PPE Form
